FSCA General Meeting Minutes 10/15/2024 7:30 PM
Because of last week’s storm, The FSCA general meeting is rescheduled for Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
Location: 2854 Shawnee Ave. West Palm Beach, FL 33409. Behind the Okeechobee Steakhouse. Please park behind the building as the Steakhouse customers use the parking lot in front.

Opening remarks (Matt Nelson)
Treasurer’s report (Mark Dombroski)- 360 members; working balance is $ 54,409.92. Grant money was received; Harley Davidson and Local Union 630 donations also received.
Old Business
Treasurer’s report acceptance- Thomas McGoldrick made a motion to
accept treasurers report, Marc Rivard seconded the motion; passed.
Minutes acceptance- Mark Dombrowski made a motion to accept
Minutes, Terrilynn Boatwright seconded the motion; passed.
Kissimmee River Trip w/ SFWMD (Matt Nelson)- Meeting was good and plans were laid out to move forward. Looking for 10 $500 sponsors to complete the project. Bishop proposed to name the pavilion the “Johnny Jones Pavilion”. More info to come from the rec meeting.
Indian River Shoot (Bishop Wright)- Turn out was not as expected due to Hurricane Milton. The shoot continued and it turned out successful for the day. FSCA was the only club in attendance.
New Business
Grant Report (Mark Dombrowski)- 4 individual grants were applied for by members of the club. 1 grant was denied; 3 were granted for Earth Day, youth hunt program, and youth day. The grant for the youth hunt program is allowing for new stands to be purchased for the hunts. Discussed the allocation for youth day grant money possibly towards the purchase life jackets for youth day and bows and arrows for the event. Discussed the importance of following the guidelines of the grants and possibly appointing a chairman for the grant money.
FWC Rule Change Survey (Bishop Wright)- Surveys are being sent out. A push was made to look closely at the turkey survey. A suggestion was made for having the first 9 days of turkey season be for residents only. 3 days is the current suggestion. However, it was discussed for possibly withdrawing the rule change proposal until next year to push for the 9 days. Discussed focusing of the quota system the next year rule change proposals.
Upcoming Youth Hunts (Billy Boatwright & Thomas McGoldrick)- Tommy discussed the need for 1-2 more guides for the hunt Nov 1-3. Discussed hunting areas and past harvests, as well as expected harvests this year. Camp will be set up on Lee Road behind the service center. Billy discussed Grassy Island Oct 25-27; current state of the area unknown since the storm. Cameras have produced game in the area. Hopeful that the hunt will be successful.
Youth Day 2025 (Terrilynn Boatwright & Rachel Stroh)- Terrilynn discussed looking into what is needed for the day now that the grant has been approved. Matt discussed using a trailer in his possession for merchandise to be sold out of. Discussed a continued push for sponsors instead of donations due to acquiring the grants. Discussed setting up front to be card friendly and taking pressure off the kitchen. Discussed the need for 2 more point of sale.
FSCA Bylaws Committee (Matt Nelson)- Discussed forming a committee for the bylaws. Bishop Wright appointed as chairperson. Discussed the process for bylaw changes.
SFWMD Rec Meeting (Bishop Wright)- Meeting is scheduled for 10/28 at 5 pm. after being rescheduled. Discussed the importance for the sportsman/sportswoman presence to be in attendance. This meeting will also serve as the FSCA board meeting for October.
Membership Drive (Matt Nelson)- Discussed pushing for members in order to have a strong FSCA representation moving towards the future. Discussed the sign-up process and promotions to boost membership numbers.
Items Not on the Agenda- Shout out to Mike Hubbs for pushing bike raffle tickets at his shop and doing an amazing job!
