Opening remarks (Matt Nelson)

Treasurer’s report (Mark Dombroski)- 420 members; discussed gathering emails and names from youth day. The working balance is $52,129.96, and the building fund is $20,000. Discussed new monies and outstanding bills. Dan King discussed current and completed grants.

Old Business

 

  1. Treasurer’s Report Acceptance– Thomas McGoldrick motioned to accept the treasurer’s report, and Kerry Garceau seconded the motion; it passed.
  2. Minutes Acceptance—Thomas McGoldrick moved to accept the minutes report, and Kerry Garceau seconded it; it passed.
  3. LOAA Airboat & Buggy Show (Bishop Wright)- This is a good show with a big turnout. It brought in $635 from the show. Discussed the success of the bike raffle.
  4. Youth Gator Hunt (Kerry Garceau)- Successful hunt with kids and parents. A parent wrote a thank you letter. The gators were cleaned by 2 pm.
  5. FWC Commission Meeting (Bishop Wright)- 2 rule changes passed. Opposition was not successful in swaying the vote. We discussed the meeting in general and had side conversations.
  6. Youth Gator Hunt (Lauresa Musgrove)- All gators were harvested within 2 hours. Parents and kids were excited and were able to go frog gigging, and all enjoyed the hunt.
  7. KRVSA Freedom Ride (Dan King)- This was a good experience, and they were able to meet new people. The bike raffle was a hit, and many people purchased tickets.
  8. Youth Turkey Hunt (Steve Stroh)- 2 birds were killed Saturday morning. A couple of kids missed birds, and some kids saw birds but could not get a shot. Stands pulled and camp cleaned up by 3 pm Sunday. We discussed possibly getting a coyote hunt in Grassy Island.

 

New Business

  1. KCOL Campsite Workday 3/15 (Bishop Wright): Meet for breakfast at 8 a.m.; captains’ meeting at 9 a.m. GPS coordinates will be given to mark the camps.

 

  1. Youth Gator Hunt 3/21-3/23 (Billy Boatwright): Some kids have dropped out. Calls will be made to fill those spots. Emails need to be sent to collect payment.

 

  1. Hunt Master Class 3/21-3/23 (Matt Nelson)- Discussed the upcoming class and if anyone would like to participate.

 

  1. SFWMD Rec Meeting 3/24 (Bishop Wright)- FSCA board meeting will be counted as the rec meeting. Discussed the agenda for this meeting and discussed possible topics to be added in the future.

 

  1. Corbett Clean-Up 4/27 (Thomas McGoldrick)- Discussed getting the SUL and updating the flyer. Discussed the purchasing items for the event that align with the grant. Discussed a designated cook for the event. The meeting location will be at Camp B.

 

  1. Earth Day on Kissimmee River (Dan King)- Discussed who will cook the food. Discussed shirts being made for the event per the grant. We discussed getting kids to come and get involved.

 

  1. NWTF Banquet 5/17 (Thomas McGoldrick): We discussed the menu for the event and got with Luke to finalize details. We discussed pushing the flyer to sell tickets and tables. Currently, 1 table and two tickets have been sold for the event. We discussed adding a link to the website to sell tickets.

 

  1. Father’s Day Shoot 6/14 (Steve Stroh)- Discussed previous sponsors to see who may want to get involved again this year. Discussed the flyer for this year’s event. Discussed a date focusing on selling teams. We discussed getting a final number for the cost of the range. Discussed the need for volunteers to help set up. Discussed the sponsor packages.

 

  1. Post-Hunting Season Meeting 4/8 (Matt Nelson)- The meeting will be held at the Hamlin House. Discussed creating a Facebook event for the meeting. Discussed other options to show the presentation if more than 78 people RSVP to come. This meeting will take place instead of the FSCA meeting. Discussed topics to be part of the presentation.

Bishop Wright motioned to create the Sean Mccan Award, and Kerry Garceau seconded. Mike Elfenbein was nominated.

 

  1. Newsletter Content (Nikki McGoldrick)- Discussed emailing material to stay updated on the newsletter.

Items not on the Agenda: Bishop Wright moved to purchase 2 tables at the FAA Banquet; Kerry Garceau seconded. We discussed the Sean McCann celebration of life on 4/12 at Uncle Al’s in Davie at 2 p.m., an airboat memorial ride.
