Opening remarks (Matt Nelson)

Treasurer’s report (Mark Dombroski) – 456 members in total, all bills paid.

 Old Business

  1. Treasurer’s Report Acceptance – Dan King made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report, and Kerry Garceau seconded the motion; passed.
  2. Minutes Acceptance – Joe Rabena made a motion to accept the minutes report, and Thomas McGoldrick seconded the motion; passed.
  3. NWTF/FSCA Banquet (Thomas McGoldrick) – Good turnout, with approximately 74 people in attendance. Roughly $6000 brought in. The date for next year’s event has been confirmed and discussed, with plans to create a social media event to promote the event more effectively.
  4. SFWMD/FWC Tour Boat Meeting (Bishop Wright) – A meeting was held to discuss organizing a meeting with tour boat captains.
  5. FWC Commission Meeting, 5/21/25 (Matt Nelson) – Approximately 20 members from FSCA attended. The bear hunt was approved, and the final vote will take plsce in August.
  6. Grant Update (Dan King) – We paid out the Youth Day grant and submitted a progress report. We also paid out the Earth Day grant and submitted our progress report. We discussed the expenses for tree stands and submitted grant requests for 2026. We also discussed plans to apply for a grant for the Father’s Day shoot
  7. Youth Camp Workday 5/27/25 (Bishop Wright) – Volunteers went to the youth camp to mow, clean, and repair tent platforms on “Campers Island.”
  8. ARM Ranger Camp Day (Lauresa Musgrove) – Lauresa and Bishop presented to kids about hunting and fishing as part of an outreach program.
  9. LOAA Trash Fish Tournament 6/7/25 (Matt Nelson) – FSCA donated hats and shirts for the raffle. There was a good turnout for the Day, more than in the past.

 

 

New Business

  1. Father’s Day Shoot 6/14/25 (Steve Stroh)- Discussed timeline for Friday and Saturday, things that have been completed, and items that still need attention. Discussed, clays, food, gift bags, ammo, 50/50, etc.
  2. SFWMD Rec Meeting 6/23/25 (Matt Nelson & Newton Cook) – This meeting will take place as part of our June board meeting. Newton stressed the importance of a good turnout for the meeting to prevent losing resources. The meeting will also be available on Zoom. Issues to be discussed are STAs and other topics.
  3. BCHA Deer Scouting Workshop 6/28/25 (Matt Nelson)- Event takes place at Riverbend Park in Jupiter. They are asking for a couple of volunteers to come out and lead a mock skills trial.
  4. FAA Unity Weekend 7/12/25 (Bishop Wright) – The first round of nominations will take place on Friday night. On Saturday morning, there will be an airboat ride, lunch will be provided, and a pool party will follow. There will also be a clay shoot at OK Corral. Saturday night, the banquet will be held. Mark Dombrowski made a motion to cover half the ticket price for anyone who goes to the event for the FSCA tables; Kerry Garceau seconded the motion.
  5. FSCA Corbett Hunter Survey (Matt Nelson)- Discussed putting together a survey for hunters/sportsmen that specifically target people who use J.W. Corbett Wildlife Management Area..
  6. Newsletter Items (Nikki McGoldrick)-. Change of email address to send updates and articles for the newsletter.
  1. Items not on the agenda- Discussed the date of the FWC August meeting that will be held in Havana, August 13-14. Discussed a budget for the guns for the Father’s Day Shoot. Bishop Wright made a motion for $1000 for two guns; Johnny Escobar seconded.
